Welcome back to the UFC Efrain Escudero
The Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Efrain Escudero got himself an early Christmas present today. After being released from the UFC in September of 2010, Escudero is back and will face Jacob Volkmann at UFC 141 on December 30th.
Volkman was originally scheduled to face T.J. Grant, but the Canadian was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Escudero (18-3) won his first two official bouts in the UFC before losing to Even Dunham by late submission. He would rebound with a decision victory over Dan Lauzon at UFC 114 but was submitted again four months later against Charles Oliveira. Escudero would seriously miss weight for this bout and coupled with the loss was enough to get him released.
Since leaving the UFC though he has gone 5-1 and most recently submitted Cesar Avila in the 1st round at Bellator 55. Escudero’s shot at redemption against Volkman will be part of the UFC 141 undercard set to air on Facebook.
