Just a few hours before Sunday’s World Combat Series 11 got underway the cage was the location for two BJJ super fights featuring some familiar names in the sport. Current UFC fighter Kyle Kingsbury faced his father Rick Kingsbury in the first match, while Nate James and Nate Moore squared off in the other.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was on full display in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil last night at UFC on FUEL TV 10: Nogueira vs. Werdum 2. A record smashing eight submission took place to go along with the two knockouts and two decisions.

After coming out on top for the first two rounds by barely out pointing Terry Etim, Edson Barboza turned on the style with a spinning heel kick that connected perfectly sending Etim tumbling to the ground out cold from the second he connected. The explosive kick is the early front-runner for the best knockout of 2012, improved the Brazilian's record to 10-0 and earned him knockout of the night.

Saturday, August 27 will mark the return of the UFC to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – arguably the birthplace of MMA after Royce Gracie introduced Brazilian jiu jitsu to us all years ago. That changing of the guard will happen once the gate is locked for Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub and Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira.

This last weekend Arizona held its yearly State Championships for Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu in Mesa Arizona allowing MMA Valor full access to a great event.
