Here we are once again with the middleweight division's number one contender spot up for grabs, well in most people's eyes anyway. Everyone seems to have their definitive number one contender but it seems to change with each event. In this article we will lay down who are the top names in the division and give some points on why they may or may not get a shot at Anderson Silva and the twelve pounds of gold he wears around his waist.

Now that the LONG awaited UFC 152 is over, some may be wondering where do some of the winners go now. Overall UFC 152 was very good, from the beginning preliminaries through most of the Pay Per View main card, we had several good finishes and one near HUGE upset.

As UFC 152 approaches, Charles Oliveira readies himself to try to extend his win streak to three when he faces Cub Swanson. Oliveira started his UFC career with two big wins, and the world took notice. His next three fights did not go as well, going 0-2-1 when facing top-notch fighters like Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone.

In ten short days the UFC will be crowning it's very first flyweight champion. Joseph Benavidez will face off against Demetrious Johnson at UFC 152 in Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Even with the addition of the flyweight division, most probably don't know who most of these fighters are. Many of them had to fight in higher weight classes, or they had to fight in the lower organizations just to fight at this weight.

Fan favorite Mike Swick, has signed a four fight extension with the UFC and will face Matt Brown at UFC on Fox 5 on December 8th at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. Swick spread the news via. his twitter account (@officialswick). Swick last fought in August against DeMarques Johnson, earning his second knockout of the night honors with a second round KO.

In all the mayhem of UFC 151 being canceled, and fighter after fighter saying they would have stepped up, you may have missed Alan Belcher tweeting that he was ok with Vitor Belfort taking the Jon Jones fight. Belcher revealed he has a spinal fracture and he was unfortunately going to have to pull out of their UFC 153 fight anyway. Alan said the timetable for his return will be in November, and that he wants a top 5 guy. Belcher is on a four fight win streak with impressive wins over Jason MacDonald and Rousimar Palhares.
