Several fighters went missing on the UFC website list of roster yesterday, spurning speculation of their release. Typically when a fighter gets removed from the website it a precursor to them officially being released from the UFC.
Before the UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier main card airs live on FUEL TV, the six preliminary bouts streamed on Facebook. With only one fight above the lightweight division, the prelims featured the lighter weight classes along with two former Ultimate Fighter cast members in the final two bouts before heading into the UFC on FUEL TV 3 main card.
The UFC on Fuel TV 3 weigh-ins took place, today, at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA. All 24 fighters crossed the famed UFC weigh-in stage and all were able to successfully make-weight. So, all fights are green lighted for tomorrow night on Fuel TV.
MMA fans struggling to get through the week get a boost to help them make it to the weekend Tuesday’s UFC on Fuel TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier card. The 12 bout fight card will be split in half; six preliminary fights will steam on Facebook prior to the six main card bouts that will air on FUEL TV.
Let’s be honest, Tuesdays are useless. They’re just a day removed from Monday, but too far from the end of the week to get you excited about anything. What makes them a hell of a lot better though is some prime UFC on Fuel TV bouts. The fallout from the Saturday’s epic UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson event was released today by the California State Athletic Commission. Out of the 24 fighters on the card, 13 of them received medical suspensions with the obvious combatants receiving extended suspensions.
Making their first trip to San Jose, California the UFC put together a deep fight card that delivered the goods inside the Octagon. The final two fights at UFC 139 were both awarded “Fight of the Night” honors for good reason. As far as Main & Co-Main events go, UFC 139 arguably had the best combination of the two on a single night.
The UFC 139 weigh-ins could easily go down as one of the most interesting pre-fight weigh ins ever between the scale troubles, outrageous outfits and personalities. With fighters walking out dressed in a suit (Danny Castillo) and as Steven Seagal (Tom Lawlor) the fans were treated to more than fighters stripping down to their skivvies and stepping on a scale.
