The first UFC 124 fight shown live on UFC.com was a lightweight scrap between Mark Bocek (9-3) and Dustin Hazelett (12-7). Both fighter s were coming into the fight off a loss, but Hazelett was clearly on the hot seat having lost two in a row by early TKO/KO.

Those two losses were at welterweight and for the fight Hazelett dropped back down to lightweight for the first time since 2007. The move down in weight was to be a good move for the BJJ expert but Bocek wasn’t having any of that.

Bocek is also a BJJ black belt and took Hazelett down right away and showed off his underrated Jiu-Jitsu by passing to mount and catching Hazelett in a triangle just minutes into the fight. Hazelett fought it off for a long time but there was just no way out and he was force to tap at 2:33 of the first round.

The loss gives Hazelett three in a row and puts his overall UFC record at 5-5. With all the roster cuts being made and all the lightweight fighters coming in from the WEC Hazelett will most likely be handed his pink slip shortly.
